my car is an 85 stanza with 120,xxx miles on it.

went to drive the car and it started and ran with no problems. nothing seemed out of the ordinary until i went to back out and put the car into first gear and upon taking off it died and has not run since.

upon my inspection i noticed that the fuel pump was not running when i turned the key on. replaced the fuel pump with no success. traced out problem and determined it was a wiring problem which was causing the pump not to run. now fuel pump comes on and never cycles off. thought that there might be some trash in the lines so i disconnected them and blew them out. car still has 1/2 tank of gasoline.replaced fuel filter at the same time. now i have pressure on the inlet and outlet side of the fuel filter and same amount of pressure on the return just before the tank. All fuses in the panel are still good. Found the ECU and put it into the diagnostic mode and got 4 error codes: Start Signal, Load Signal, Neutral Switch, and Idle Controller. I would like to diagnose the problem and get it fixed so i can get back into a car with some good fuel economy but this problem has just exceeded my realm of knowledge. any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

first things first. lets find out if it is JUST a fuel problem. take a vacuum line loose from the intake manifold. look for one closer to the throttle body so all cyls are fed semi-equally. spray carb cleaner in the vacuum hose while someone else is cranking her up. if its JUST a fuel issue, she should start and run. i drive cars in the shop like this if i know they need a fuel pump and i dont feel like pushing. note: she may be flooded or get flooded like this. if so, you may need to pull the plugs and clean them off. with some air.

took your advice and sprayed carb cleaner but still no luck. after a little bit more investigation i pulled out a multimeter and tested the electrical connection on each of the injectors and i am not getting any voltage on 3 of them even when cranked but on one i am getting 1/2 of a volt. upon tracing the wiring back i see that it runs right into the ECU. My thoughts are maybe the ecu is bad????

how about ground? is there voltage between injector and battery positive terminal? remember the ecm provides power on some cars and ground on others.

i used my meter to test between the injectors and positive battery terminal and now i am more confused than ever. the two injectors that are closest to the passenger side of the car both register 8.5V on both connectors on both wires. but when i hook it to the two injectors closest to the drivers side of the car i get 8.5V and .25v on the two connectors for one injector and the same on the other.I am just confused as to why on the driver's side injectors i get 8.5V and .25V on each one and why on the passenger's side i get 8.5V on both injectors no matter which of the four connectors i connect it to. i also took the meter and used the beep test to make sure that there was no broken wires between where they plug into the ecu and they plug into the injectors. as always any help figuring this out is greatly appreciated.
