I'm in need of replacing my alternator on the truck. But the issue is I can't find where the amp requirement is. I don't want to get one that is 60 amp when the truck requires a 100 amp alternator(Example).

So what is the default amp for the alternator?

Your local auto parts store should have the answer for you.

When picking your alternator, make sure it has the right female connector for the molex wiring. My molex connector was a "T" fitting, while other trucks use the standard side by side connector style.

From the factory you had a 50amp alternator (some documents I've found have said 60 if you have factory AC). Any shop should have your make/model/year/trim/engine info to be able to pull up a proper alternator that meets the original specs.

they will actually run on a 31amp alternator (don't ask me where you get one). when one of the mounting bolts broke in mine I was on a trip so I just stopped at an o'reilys and bought whatever they had that looked similar. its a nice 60 which works just fine. the fittings should be a non issue as it doesn't use the regulator thingy ma bob.
