i picked this up for 300 last week. the timing was all messed up and it had a blown headgasket between back 2 cylinders. the head was warped too. this is my second 720, my last was a '84 4x4. im not to happy about this one being an automatic, but w/e. should be a fun build.

i got the block stripped down and the head in the machine shop getting shaved. the tops of the pistons had fresh grooves cut in from the valves hitting them, so i hope they arent bent. i was wondering, is the z24 non-interference?

got the head out of the shop. it was warped 25 thousands of an inch between the back 2 cylinders.

i hacksawed off the EGR on the exhaust manifold and filled it up with some welding rod.

yeah its pretty ugly. but this is just a temporary fix till i save up for a header. i managed to seal up the intake side of the EGR too. it looks s*** but it will work.

i soaked the head in purple power then pressure washed the top of the combustion chamber and it came out sparklin!

got the timing cover, egr, and manifold painted. i used 2000 degree paint on the manifold and 500 degree on the timing cover.

i ran the original air filter casing through a band saw, so it should breath better now.
