uh oh, well I'd start by pulling the timing belt cover off and seeing if the belt has snapped, it's a PITA as you have to remove all the accessory belts anf pulley's first, the belts on these acrs are required every 60k miles or 5 years, if you never changed yours I suspect it snapped, this smashes the valves and possibly damages the pistons, sorry to bear the bad news but prepare you self to spend lots of money, and engine replacement or rebuild makes the $300 timing belt change seem like a bargain

i pulled the cover off and the belt didnt snap how ever when i tried to turn the cam to get it TDC the belt didnt move but the cam did. when i was finally able to turn the belt i noticed that some of the teeth were gone. could the tensioner have broke and caused it to lock the belt up? i havent pulled the vibration absorber off yet and the lower part of the cover. is ther a way to pull the vibration absorber off without a puller?

Sounds like you still have a ****ed up engine there. If the cams and crank don't turn in unison, that is bad. You have bent vales at least, and prehaps damaged pistons as well. If the belt is missing teeth, then the cam can rotate and have the valves and pistons hit, which can give you the same effect as snapping the belt.

Well, open it up and check the damage. You may only have to buy new valves. If your lucky it will be more serious and will bleed you out for being a dumbass and not doing regular maintainence. Because the best lessons hurt.

you shouldn't turn the engine by the cam, but sheared teeth on the belt is all it takes to wreck your engine, let's hope you only need to rework the heads, as for the harmonic balancer, sometimes you luck out and they come off with a bit of gentle prying, excessive prying can damage your oil pump and or thrust bearing, autozone will loan you the pulled for a small refundable deposit, better than cheap insurance it's free insurance
