1984 Z turbo. 145k miles. Exhaust/intake/boost@ 10lbs.

Ok, a while back it started to smoke profusely. After searcing around for what could be wrong, I took off all the intake pipeing to check the turbo for shaft play. When doing this, I noticed the hose that goes straight from the valve cover to the intake, where it comes into the intake, there was ALOT of oil. So, being the curiouse person I am, I unhooked the hose and pluged everything up. After running for a little bit, the smoking stopped, and has yet to smoke again. Now, that just seams way to easy, is that really all that could have been wrong?

Secondly, it liked to idle really high sometimes. Like, as if its warming up, yet its already warm. Sometimes it will do it, sometimes it wont. Sometimes it will idle at 2k rpm, sometimes at 1700 rpm, sometimes at 1500, sometimes at 900, its weird. What could be causing this? Because that is a REALLY annoying problem.
