ive got a 84 720 king cab with a blown transmission. my local junk yard has a 240z and a 280z sitting there. i was wondering if those trannys would bolt to the truck, because it has the 2.4 z motor. any input will be appreciated

the L and Z series blocks are very similar...I'm not for sure if it'll bolt up...but I'd atleast count on needing work done to the driveshaft.

shouldn't be too hard to find a 720 with a 5 speed if you've got a little time though.

The z-24 transmission has a different bell housing and will not work for this. I have tried it, and it physically will not bolt.

The Z24 is the same block design as a L26 so it accepts the same bellhousing, but the problem is the tail end. The z transmission may have a long tail end which is too long to fit between the engine and the transfer box. Measure the length of the trannys, and if they're the same length, then you're in luck
