Sounds like you got a huge vacuum leak or your accelerator pump went out, You should be able to see a stream of gas shot down the carb when you open up the throttle, if you don't see this, then you'll need to rebuild the accelerator pump or find out why it's not pumping (disconnected linkage etc). It's also possible you got some debris in your carb blocking off your main jets which would also warrant rebuilding the carb. Webers are real easy to rebuild so no worries there, just gotta buy the kit, take the carb apart and soak in a good carb dip like Berryman B9 chem dip or Gunk then blow out all the passages, install the new gaskets and parts in the kit and put back together.
Check these things Before doing a carb rebuild tho since they can cause a hesitation or bog down... Spark plugs, Ignition wires, Cap & Rotor,Vacuum lines, and Pcv valve, if any of these are bad (or a combination of all) then you'll want to fix those problems first. Also you can tell a lot about how your engine is running by "reading" the spark plugs and there are several places on the web you can find pictures with the description of what each plug condition means.
