hello all I have an 84 300 zx, I dont drive it regularly but in the summer i take it around the block a few times, anyway this spring i started it ,let it warm up then pushed the clutch in to put it in reverse and the pedal stayed down on the floor, i flipped it up with my toe and it poped back out, now i did the same thing a month later and the same thimg happened but it popped out agn the third time i did it the clutch pedal didnt pop back out, so now i have it on jack stands and I was going to bleed the system but the pedal has no tension on it whatsoever i mean i can push it in and out with my hand with no resistance whatsoever, so I'm wondering if i can bleed the system even with no pressure at the pedal. btw the master cylinder resevoir is full but the fluid looks very dirty, I imagine it has never been replaced I know i havent touched it in 7 years.

no i have no nothing about swaps.

I just tried to bleed the lines but there is no pressure when i push the pedal down. I'm staring to think its a master cylinder issue? perhaps the pushrod or a seal? any input would be greatly appreciated and no more hijacking my thread plz.

With air in the system the pedal will stick, try bleeding first, if it won't hold pressure I recomend replacing the master and slave as a set

Don't forget to bleed at the damper as well on all 84-86 models, and if you replace the master and slave, replace the damper with an 83 280zx front brake line
