Hi.. has anyone used one of these Blackdragon headlight wiring harness kits on a 280ZX? I have done alot of reading and searching but only find articles related to older Z's. I have the kit the directions show 2 headlight plugs that plug into the headlights.. simple. It shows a seperate ground wire for each headlight plug.. simple. It shows two power wires joined together going to the battery.. simple. The problem i see the harness has one male plug to plug into one female socket on the factory headlight harness. To me it seems this would overload one side of the headlight circuit and cause a meltdown somewhere. Am i right, wrong? The directions are not real good on the package. I thought i would ask to see if anyone here has any experience installing one of these kits on a 280ZX Oh.. the reason im doing this i had a real dim headlight on the right front about 15 years ago. I thought it was a bad headlight sensor so i bought a new sensor didnt fix the problem. I unplugged the sensor and made a 3 way spade harness plugged into the factory harness and its worked fine all these years. Just thought this new harness might be the fix and get rid of the little red light on the dash.

Thank You!

I've nto done this to any of my cars but assuming the kit si the same as the early cars, it's a simple relay and the relay supplies power to your headlight directly form your battery and the existing power is used to switch the relay, which takes all the load off of the existing circuit and outs it on the relay and wires leading to the battery

I didn't to this tom my S30, I simply swithced to a sealed beam headlight, they make them int he stardaed round size allowing you to use mosern bulbs which make a lot more light

Hey evildky.. thanks for the reply! I follow what you are saying and going by the instructions does make sense. So i wired it up simple as i thought. I turn on the headlights both work equal brightness. Problem: No key in the ignition i just reached in and turned on the headlights.. in about 15 seconds the wipers started working on their own.. 10 seconds after that black smoke coming from the wiring harness leading to the wiper motor. I pulled to battery cable immediately and poured my bottled water on the harness. I opened the car door.. more black smoke from under the dash. I pulled all the factory tape off of that harness and it totally melted one wire is only copper now heading into the wiper motor it appears that the melted wire stopped at the firewall.. (irony) I will get under the dash this weekend and pull the steering wheel and cover off to see whats melted there. So.. the car is completely stock.. stock electrical nothing has ever been cut or spliced no aftermarket electrical accessories so i dont know what could have happened. I have extra an wiring harness with all the ends.

lol, witht he relay hoke dup oroperly it can't cause the problem, unless you took the trigger wire dfrom under the dash or grounded to the wire harness instead of the chassis, also the wire harness grounds are terrible int he s30's might be worth clippign the headlight ground wire and runnign ti straight to a chassis ground
