With the proper tools and experience. Multiple thousands of dollars of specialty sockets, swivels, vari length extensions are available on every Snap On Tool truck.

Every minute counts when you make your living selling minutes.

Not being flipant just that you have to have the tool to do the job. Most owners don't spend $300-500 just to take a plug out but technicans do.......because they may do it every day.

use a short extension and deep socket combination (5" ish total) that comes to just at the height of the valve cover.

1. Put a breakover bar that runs the length of valve cover, but just fits under the ABS sytem. Breakover bars are thiner than rachets.

2. Turn it about 1/8 turn till it hits the plenum.

3. Try the extension with your fingers. If its loose enough run it out by hand, if not,

4. pull the extension and socket, turn the extension on the socket one quarter turn and reinsert. This allows the breakover bar to fit 1/12 turn back from it's previous point

repeat steps 2 -> 4 until it's loose enough to turn by hand.

I got it out! Used two extensions and a pair of pliers. Grabbed the second extension with the pliers and was able to get it.

I'll use the extra $300 - $500 I saved on something else.

... or you could do that.

My solution is based on about $35 in tools I already have on hand. ($20 socket set, $3 extension, $10 breakover bar).

I bought all these years ago so I don't really consider their cost anymore since I use them about every time I pop the hood on a car.

I find myself tackling jobs I'm scared of to justify all the tools I've purchased!

I found the best way to get at the 7 and 8 cy is to drop the socket in, put in the extension, and then put on the ratchet.... it worked wonders for me!!
