So a friend of mine who works for an evil gas company told me they are wanting prices to be up to eight dollars a gallon by 2009. When I heard this I got so mad I wanted to shoot someone but I'm on probation so I figure if I tell everyone else you guys will shoot someone for me, thanks in advance.

i heard it would level out around the 5-6$ range. Any higher than that and the demand will start to fall because the market for electric cars and other hybrids would become huge. Not to mention pumping up the good ole huffy bike tires. If my job wasnt freaking 20 miles away i would start biking. The gas prices are killing me. Work is 20 miles one way and school is about 18 miles one way. So i travel 76 miles a day.

New president needs to either

A) raise min. wage to like $14 or

B) place a price ceiling on gas

Also we need to get smart and be more "green". If you can, buy a hybrid or somthing. Dont be driving a big ol lifted truck just for fun.

Mayan calander predicts the end of the world as we know it, in 2012. Maybe the world realy will end, or drastically change. Maybe we will find a good substitute for gas.....

the thing is they will be able to charge this cause as of now we are fighting for the remaing oil in other countries. pretty soon that oil will be gone and we will go from having something like 87% of the worlds oil to all of it in us soil or owned property. Then the prices are gonna get nasty cause they companies will own everything and can charge whatever the hell they want..... sometimes i wish i didnt love driving so muc.

On the issue of European Gas prices being 6-7-8 + dollars a gallon is because they tax the hell out of the gas there. A lot of the money especially in northern Europe goes to alternative energy. Take it for what it's worth.

But as an American Solution for gas prices, I say either lower the taxes on it or, put a price ceiling on it. IMO I think a good ceiling could be that Gas Prices couldn't raise more than a $1 to $1.50 a year. So if the average for gas last year was (don't actually know but this is just to illustrate a point) ~2.50 so that means that this year the average couldn't go higher than 3.50-4.00. This would give people time to adjust to the changes. Or hell, raise minimum wage to like 8-9 bucks an hour to help people cope. I know in NJ it's about 7.15 which is good and I think the national average is like 5 something.

lol its so easy to blame the president for gas prices, he has nothing to do with rising gas prices and the next president can't put a freeze on the price either. I doubt it will be $8/gal by next year there will be riots in the streets if that happens

When people told me 6 months ago it was going to be $5 by the end of summer I thought they were on crack. I wouldnt be surprised to see $8 because clearly they can do whatever they want. I sure picked a bad time to have a turbo car, at least my brother and I work at the same place so we split gas cost.

actually **** bush and we arent goin to see gas run out in the next 50 yrs or so but it mostly because the president isn't doingt anything is because the republican party puts so much money$$$ into bug business that they dont care about prices and they just see it as makiing money whew now i dont want to start any fights but those are the facts btw min wage in MA is $8.00 P/HR

Hydrogen Booster. Build your own for your car. It replaces some of the gas you use with hydrogen. It's pretty cool and you should look into it. My dad and I are trying it out on his cherokee to see if it's legit or not.

thats what alot of people seem to think, but i highly doubt people will figure out an effective means of rioting to get gas prices to drop

The only way gas prices are going to go down is if we obliterate India and China off the face of the earth. They're the main reason behind the rise in fuel costs because people over there are becoming more wealthy and buying cars and increasing the demand for oil.So unless India and China and some other countries go into a major depression and start riding bicycles again, the gas prices will just keep going up. lol

How about if we just stop comsuming didgusting amounts of oil instead of trying to blame other countries and telling them to stop??? We have the technology to greatly reduce or even the ability to stop using foreign oil. It's the stupid government with its oil buddies that try to keep us from starting to convert to things like hydrogen cars or alternative power plants. That's what I was talking about with the hydrogen booster. Just a few mods and tweaks to install a booster kit, and you might get %50 better mpg. I think it's worth a shot and all you guys should look into it.

Damn, I would have thought minimum wage in NYC is around $10 because the cost of living is so much higher than NJ's. Over here, it's 7.15 but most people in our age group (17-20) get by with that.

You can believe that the oil company execs. will be milking high gas prices for all they are worth so they can cash out their million dollar parachutes while the commoners have to suffer. Ever look at the Forbes 500 list other than Wal-Mart the next top companies are all oil companies. The current administration are oil guys they could do something about it but will not and basically won't. The funniest thing about it is the people that voted for the current administration are the same people adversely effected by their policies. It is going to be the same old same old for a long time coming.

lol I don't think you understand how hard it is for a country like the United States to not consume disgusting amounts of oil like you say. Do you know how expensive it would be on us for us to solely depend on the oil on American soil? Most of it is embedded in rock and sand, which requires extensive processing to be usable. And how can you say "its the stupid government and its oil buddies" are trying to keep us from going hydrogen or other types of fuel source? The amount of money it costs to just research and develop an affordable methods of using such technology at the moment are immense, let alone converting everything over instantly just so we can see relatively slight change at the pump.

^agreeded its to profitable right now for car companies to keep using the same tech and selling us the same kind of thing. It would cost them a **** ton to try to switch to a different type of power source. Something really bad is gonna have to happen to get things to change, but anyway i cant really complain i like my petrol powered cars.
