WOW, 8.0 on the richter scale for 30 secs!! I live in the bay area and we often get soft earthquakes every now and then but nothing as scary as this.

Some seismotologists actually predicted this quake several days ago... looks like someone's going to get famous.

yeah, even through hurricane season, when the ground stays still while everything else moves.

in Kansas we have COMPLETELY unpredictable things called tornados. Don't even know their coming till they've already formed. It's great. Here's a worthless fact for yea, "although Hurricans generally cause more property damage, tornadoes are by far more deadly due to thier sponteniety." I love Kansas....

I live in Indy and we get tornadoes and floods too. Just last year a tornado tore through my neighborhood and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses. We have also had 2 record floods in the past 4 months. Oh yeah and we live on the New Madrid fault that hasn't shifted since 1810 or so. It's due anytime now. But, yeah, Texas seems to have it the worst.

Jersey never got anything bad - no quakes, 'canes or tornados.

But that's all changing, thanks to global warming. Isabel came pretty d*mn close this time. Hurricane Alley seems to be shifting northward. Plus, we've been getting small (3.0) earthquakes more frequently than normal and with the saturated water table, flooding is becoming more common.

Of course, this all had to happen right AFTER I bought a house here. But meh, it could be worse. I could be living in Cali.

I'm preparing for a big one here.

usualy when bif one happens on one side of the world there are big ones on other sides of the world following it.

We had one 3.9 recently. Got me somewhat scared :)

I live in Tennessee, we get tornados, earthquakes, uh....tropical storms sometimes(like after a big hurricane hits the coast), blizzards, droughts, heatwaves, and floods. Jesus Christ do we have rednecks too, if it weren't for Alabama, I'd think Tennessee was the most redneck place in the world. Atleast you have Atlanta, fun place....not that Nashville and Memphis are all that bad though, still redneck as hell though

I totaled my car on Tater Peeler road....

going with the thread's original subject, has there been any deaths from it?
