well on a 79 you have the same dished pistons as the turbo but you have the P79 head, same volume as the turbo head but with the sleaved exhaust runners and the CHTS is located int he wrong spot, so you'd have to relocate some wiring, and of course the cam profiles are different but not a huge deal otherwise to convert your engine you need:oil pandistributor driveshaftdistributorwire harnessecuinjectorsexhaust manifoldturbodownpipe"J" pipethe intake manifold can be made to work but it's easier to just use the whole manifoldAFMOil"T"Oil hardline
so yes you cna convert but it's generally easier to just get the complete swap, I've bought 3 wrecked 280ZX TUrbo's anywhere form $3-500, that gives you everything you need plus extra parts you can sell to offset the cost
if you know what yiu are doing and plan to upgrade then you only really need th eexhaust manifold, then add your shoice of turbo, custom piping and plumbing, engine managment custom harness crank trigger etc, the manifold and the distributor are the only origional parts I still use and I recently added a crank trigger so the distributor can go once i convert to edis
