I`m Building my 79` 280ZX into an Turbo Version.I need Help Finding out What 280ZXT between 81-83 I should take the Turbo and Pistons from?

My father has an 75` 260Z with an L28ET Engine in.!And it`s the greatest car I have ever been in

your best bet is with a complete donor car, or at least the entire engine, harness and ecu

the blocks don't really matter and really neither does the pistons, they are all cast it's just a matter of compression ratio, if you have 8:1 compression ratio or lower your fine to boost it, also the 82-83 are the ideal donors as they use the opticle distributor and the 81 uses an external crank angle sensor, also the 82-83's were available with the more desirable T-5 transmission

just be sure you get the fuel pump, complete wiring harness, ECU, MAF and the plumbing

other than that you can hang the turbo exhaust manifold on any L6 head so long as you haven't build a high compression engine

your 79 is likely and N42 or F54 block, with flat tops pistons and a P79 head and about a 7.9 compression ratio (if memory serves)

if your compression ratio is higher and you want to retain your block and head for some reason you can replace your headgasket with a 2 mil Nismo copper head gaasket that will lower your compression ratio by about .5:1

Thanks alot.My dad know`s a guy that restores Old Z`s and my dad got him to build a new Turbo Engine. It`s a L28ET but the Stock exhaust and the Turbocharger has been changed. The Engine has 312BHP and runs like a Beast. We only payed like $60 for it and it`s a completly Restored. When we get the 5spd manual Transmission back we are going to install it.

thats not a turbo engine, wrong intake, valve cover and no J-pipe, all these things can easily be changed but it looks like a stock 79 N/A engine

yeah but he says that with One Turbo you get more Compresion and if you can fit a V8 in a 240Z you can fit a V6 in a 280ZX so that`s not a problem.

you will faster spool from two. he doesnt understand the fact its a v6 not an inline its not easy to convert to one turbo. if u do u'll need new manifolds made a crossover pipe made. its to many headaches.
