I'm thinking of getting this 78 I just found.  One question I know the little guy is gonna need A LOT of work it's only $400, what kind MPG do these get?  I know the Mazda's and Toyota's get deceint.  How about the Datsuns?  Right now my husband's big Ford (his ultimate redneck wagon!) gets less than 10 mpg and I need fuel ecconomy too with all the driving (short trips) I need to do lately.   Any answers?

Thanks!

If the vehicle is properly tuned and has all the original carberator stuff and emeission they should get about 28 MPG. Mine got that for alittle bit then I started haveing problems. So I went with a Webber Carb and the gas milage went to 20/21.  But at least I don't break down any more.  They are nice trucks and decent daily drivers.

Thanks for the reply!  Even 20 would be better than less than 10 *laughs*.  I have an Olds Alero too, but since our daughter was born whoever has her has the Alero b/c it's warmer and more spacious.  If you have any kids you probably understand.  I'm kind of excited to see what this pickup looks like tonight.  If I end up getting it I'll post some pics!
