I remember distinctly a black 49 I saw quite a few years ago that had incredible build quality as evident the uniformly narrow body gaps. Makes one wonder how American manufacturers lost it so badly.

I imagine at that time there was a surfeit of technically over qualified machinists and fabricators left over from the war effort, which was aided by women who were subsequently displaced to allow the returning males discharged from the armed forces to have jobs.

hey Brian, do you go shopping for cars with a good set of calipers?:D

I think the worst thing ever about caddies where the damn plastic spacers behind the tailights from the 70's cars, it irritates the hell out of me to see them missing or broken, and they just seemed so damn pointless, why not make it solid sheet metal?

It was to allow the bumper to move in compliance with the 5 mph impact standard mandatory back then, without damaging the body. Later, it was reduced to 2.5 mph, and we got $1500+ repair bills for fascia damage from braille parkers.

Plastic cheap, metal expensive and too stiff.

Someone wanted to talk about Caddy's? How about this: 2004 CTS-V. 400 hp, 0-60 in 4.6, excellent roadholding (can't remember the exact numbers) seats 5 in full Cadillac luxury, and looks pretty damn good. That '59 is one of my all time favorite cars. I used to have a Caddy. It was a '84 Coupe DeVille, and man did that thing pimp! Unfortunately the previous owner didn't take the best care of it and I blew the torque converter...bloody automatic trannys!

Yes, the V Series is a hoot. It's probably the best all-around package I've ever driven. Get an '04, because they're slapping a $1395 gas guzzler tax on them for '05.

The brakes are incredible (four piston, 14" Brembos), standard DVD/nav system, room for four comfortably-five if you must.

Don't get too excited about the Caddy dealer. I'm at work right now. :rolleyes STS is due later this year.

I'm not excited about it, I just wanna flog a V too...

optimally, I'd like to work at a Ferrari or just random exotic dealer.

Aston Martin would be nice. It'd be awesome to get a DB5 for a loaner or something:D (not that it'd happen, damn those are hard to find here, or anywhere really....)

Yes...finally, a rear drive STS! I tell you what...I am sick and bloody tired of people telling me they would never drive a Cadillac because they look like old-people cars. What the ****!!!!! The current STS is one of my favorite American body styles, aggressive front fascia, and good lines, with quad exhausts to broadcast the massive Northstar. Then again...these are the same people who buy Camry's year after year and think those are sporty. Damn, what a twisted world we live in!

Hehe, spunked in my pants is more like it. The V on a roadcourse is awesome. I smoked a supercharged Mustang with Cold_Zero in the car. He's a big dude. Hehe...

Stoney, I need to get over there more, but my mod duties here keep me pretty busy.
