A couple motors come to mind. Most popular would be the SR20DET. You can also fit a KA24 in there. I have seen Chevy 350s in there. I bet with some fab work you could squeeze a VG30 or L28 in there. Some have fitted the RB series in there as well. It's all about $$$$$$.

He said something to bolt to the stock transmission.

You probalby have an L20 in that thing. The 280Z's of the day used an L28 - similar in almost every way to your motor, but 6 cylinders instead of 4. '75-78 L28s were fuel injected. If you want to have some real fun, find a turbo motor from an 82-83 280ZX. While it might bolt up, the little truck transmission might not be up to task there.

You'll also have some issues with block length and will likely need to modify the radiator, and run electric pusher fans instead of a clutch fan.

KA truck engines drop right in, and if you locate a Z series five speed you can bolt its front case onto the rear case of the L transmission. I have done the swap myself into a 620 using a 240sx KA and transmission but it was a bit more work.Anyway, theres more info over at IpromiseIwontTroll.com peace.

if money is an issue then do the KA swap. Its cheaper and by far the easiest of the above mentioned. peace.
