Ok guys its a 1990 with a ka24de from a 91. here is the issue, when I test resistance across positive wires and ground I am getting alot. I have it kinda narrowed down, the thicker white wire going to the battery and fuse box is the wire in suspect. I have disconected all the wires going out of the fuel box and it still has resistance. Items not hooked up are starter, alt, starter relays, three comming from fuse panel, ones for ecu harness.

please send me in the direction to fix this

its blowing with all that disconnected? try to get a circuit breaker from audio store that is close to 75 amps. there should be no resistance between ground and ground . or positive and positive as long as there are no switches etc.

yeah those things are great I used to install them into trucks when we did trailers with brake helpers. Dont think I'll go buy one, I now have about 5 75 amp fuses left( I went to the junk yard ) But I wont insert any till I find the leak or dead drain or w/ever you may call it.

you are wiggling wires without the fuse in place? ive been here long enough to know that you wont get an answer that will be helpful. you need to know how to read electrical diagram. check resistance a long section of the wire that you know are supposed to be continuous. look for resistance.

yeah the fuse is IN place, I have plenty of them for now. I wont try with my battery till the resistance is gone.

I have it narrowed down some, when tapping the relays behind the fuse box, in the drivers kick panel.

I'm thinking its just a relay thats stuck open, if thats possible?

A relay stuck open wont cause a short. Im not really sure what you are doing. You have the battery connected and the fuse in and you are wiggling wires to try to blow fuse?

have you tried reconnecting various things to see if fuse blows? the alternator is the most obvious source of the short.

you can also look for voltage drop to find short. obviously, battery is connected when you test for dc volts.

battery is out! I am measuring resistance across ground and positive(if you have an s13 its the thicker white wire going into the underhood pass side fuse panel.

I have tried all that I know and dont have monies for a 'mechanic' to come(disney owned me), I am now trying to seek help via local forum wiring guru, but he works and has kids too.

will the fuse blow if you connected the battery right now(with the alternator etc disconnecte etc)? If not, reconnect the alt and see if the fuse blows. the alternator is the most likely cause of the fuse blowing...

the yellow arrows show how battery power goes to alt fuse and then to alt. most of the branches have their own fuses.keep reconnecting stuff until fuse blows.

if not the alt or starter, it will be the white wire between battery and relay box and alternator. doulbe check the accessory relay in the relay box under the air filter. inspect it for burns etc.

Alright mine did the same thing and it ended up the alternator was grounding itself out internally and i swapped out the alt and it was fine.

IS your alt. ground still hooked up.
