720 Z24

I just picked up a 83 720 4x4. It has a Z24 engine with about 220,00 miles. The truck is descent shape but the engine needs a lot work. Its buring a lot of oil and the head rattles. I was wondering if what would be cheaper. Either get this one rebuilt or purchase a new or used engine.

Sounds like your rocker arms are way out of adjustment.

well i don't think the adjusting the rocker arms is going to stop the oil consumption

I don't know how tough the mod would be, but there are KA24 motors that are in good shape laying around all over the place. The 240SX guys rip those out of their rides for Japanese engines. The KA24 is more or less a truck engine as well. It was used in later model hardbodies and some Xterras etc.
