720 Distributor

I have an issue with a 1981 Datsun 720 dual plug distributor. This distributor is not in a Datsun, but a vintage racing 1931Ford speedster. I modified the distributor to fit and work in a Ford model B motor. It works fine except that once in while it just quits. Maybe under load or just idling. The motor has been in the car and on a dyno and the same problem happens, so I don't think its a wiring issue. Also both coils check out. Could it be the ECM? Even though its not a Datsun, I was hoping someone in this forum could point me in the right direction.

I had a problem close to that about the time car got hot it stopped running an for me it was cap an rotor that fixes my problem
