1984 720 4x4

Do the front axles have to be removed to replace the upper and lower balljoints?

The uppers can be replaced easily enough, but the lower balljoints are locked in by the hubs which have to be almost completely tore down. Might as well get new hub seals, check your bearings and rotors and replace them now if they show excessive wear because you won't want to tear it down again later ^_~ good luck.
