70 trim turbo to big?

well guys i've been researching this for like several hours now and cant really get a very good answer! well i friend of mine gave me a brand new garrett 70 trim turbo for free. seeing that im going with an sr20det do you guys think that this turbo would be to big for my engine?

so can anyone help me out here? i mean ive been researching and there really isnt much on how big a turbo you can go on a sr20det

The bigger the trim the longer your spool time. I recommend if you are going big though it MUST be Ball Bearing. I stick with the 50 and 60 trims since they spool faster but if you build the motor with slightly higher compression pistons say 9:1 or 9.5:1 you can spool a larger turbo faster since the exhuast gas will exit with a higher pressure.

My car is running a GT35 equivalent fully ported and full boost is about 3800-3900 rpms. So yes a big turbo can work on a SR just you have to do the research to see how well each turbo spools on different motors.

hey thanks blown240sx i appreciate the help yea my boy gave me this turbo and it brand new never been used so i was hoping maybe i could use it when i swap in my sr thanks man finally an answer ive been researching a few days now!
