7 speed transmission fluid service

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Anyone know the intervals for the 7 speed fluid service? Also, anyone have the specifics on the procedure? I do my own work for the most part, and the owners manual does not give very much info on the 7 speed.

Thanks,

Jason

Welcome to Nico!

Have you tried picking up a factory service manual? That should get into detail. Most of the time servicing a transmission requires draining the fluid, changing the filter, then adding fresh fluid. I'm not positive about the exact procedure on yours though...

Haven't gotten one yet, they are pricey.

If you didn't get the Service & Maintenance Manual when you bought the car, you can order one from Infiniti for free. They're also available for download on the net, just Google your model and Service & Maintenance Manual. At least that will tell you the interval recommended. As far as procedures, hey, it's just a car, same as any car.

Welcome to the Forum...

Have a look in the Announcements, and you'll see "EX35 Owner Manuals, Factory Manuals & TSB's..."

It may not include 2011 yet, but the procedures might be the same.

Thanks. The maintenance manual has info for the transmission, but states excludes 7 speed. No info on the 7 speed was found (including service intervals).

I think that is funny how they missed that in their edit process. The same holds true with the G37. About the only thing to do is call the service department and ask?

Hopefully more info will pop up soon. I know the 7 speed is newer.

The 7 Speed is sealed from the factory. I don't think the 11 EX even has an external dipstick.

The book details a specific procedure for counting drips from an inspection hole but there should not be a reason to open it.

Yeah, I have not found a dipstick on it yet.

That is funny Steve as I sent off an email to InfinitiUSA and they replied with the usual "contact your dealer". I did that and the Service Department said they do the 30,000 mile service on all transmissions including the seven speed. I am getting a bit worried about Infiniti. With what you have said, I think I will press it with the dealership. Thanks for the information.

:squint: I HATE bad information.

Lets check the facts.

We don't have the newest manuals but I have the 10 FX (w/ 7speed) maintenance section.

Taking a look through the bookmarks and service schedule I notice that something is definately missing....

There is a small hole that you have to inject the oil up and into. We have a special tool for it but maintenance is not intended.

How much is and when is scheduled transmission service for the 5 speed transmission. I just picked up a 2008 Journey/Premium with 28,000 miles and have no idea what I've gotten myself into.

Hey there and Welcome to the group :dblthumb:

The first (and only) service on the transmission should be done by the dealer (with the special fluid and machine) at increments of 60,000 miles. Other than that maintenance is pretty straight forward.

Here is a link to the manuals for your car.

Enjoy.

Anyone have procedures how to change the transmission fluid? If done at the dealer, I can imagine would be sky high on price.
