I bought a new 2013 Infiniti EX37 for my wife in March of 2014. She has 52k miles on it so far with zero problems. It's never been worked on by the dealer or anyone else since purchasing. But, I want to do a transmission drain and fill. I'm thinking about using Valvoline Maxlife ATF that claims to meet the S spec. Is that the fluid that most are using or should I bite the bullet and pay Nissan's prices?

My opinion ....ONLY my opinion , half dozen very respectable nicoclubbers here got 1/2 dozen alternatives , which I respect BUT.......The " real-deal " Factory fluid ....from a real-deal DEALER ....for your FIRST drain/fill...? ?

Never gonna go wrong , like IF'n some INFINITI TSB SB or ext. transmission warranty , mostly THEY WILL ( possibly not ) THEY WILL send transmission -fluid for testing ..................3 strikes your out of a free or reduced " job " on transmission from ANY INFINITI dealer , right ??
I got , for example a BMW '06 , a specific LL-01 is called for oil , seems MANY go and put NON -APPROVED OIL ! They'll use a 'modern' oil ...that say like " compatible w/ LL-'01", or " CAN be used in place of LL-'01 - BUT THOSE cars are the ones with deterioated valve seals - SMOKE LIKE BASTARD :rotfl ....MY BMW CAR DONT SMOKE SZHITTTT !! I stick w/ MOTUL w/right & proper designation . I myself , from experience , take the safe & proper fork in the road ...HUH ? Ya :lolling:

macgiver, Thank you for your response!
The car is 10 years old and warranty is not a consideration. If the trans failed, I wouldn't even take it to the dealer. I'd take it to a trans shop. It seems to me that someone probably makes an oil that meets the Nissan spec. I wonder if the dealer even uses the Nissan oil? Most shops even dealer shops use the cheapest oil they can buy that meets the spec.

The Dealers around me not shady or sketchy and especially if you mention & ask 90% put the right 'Factory' stuff in , and you now will make your own decisions , and catch other's opinions I'm sure too :gapteeth: YMMV
