Hello everyone,

Proud owner of a 2012 G37xS coupe. I purchased it last January and am currently approaching 10,000 miles. I have been experiencing all of the quirky symptoms described in the Infiniti service bulletins (ITB12-027).
-Harsh downshifts in D when coming to a stop
-Lag when coasting
-Gear hunting
*I have also experienced applying the gas in certain situations where the rpms rose like in N as if the car didn't know what gear to go in.

The problem is that the 2012 coupe is not covered in the bulletin and my dealership is claiming that I have the current software. :gotme

While I don't have a 7sp (my '07 and '08 are both 5sp) I have some similar quirks with the transmission. I've experienced some unexpected and firm downshifts over the last 4.5 years but not very often. I can also get the transmission lost where it's trying to determine what to do. In those "hunting" situations the RPM's are low until it figures out what to do.

Now, the issues where you applied the gas and the RPM's went up but the vehicle seemed out of gear I have only experienced with my 2k2 Maxima but not either of my G's....and it only happened 2-3 times in 158k miles.

I don't have experience with the 7sp so I don't know if others have seen similar issues with the newest version of code. Hopefully someone will chime in. while I don't believe you are causing any damage there is always the possibility that repeated issues could.

After reading about the symptoms people were having prior to the reprogram, I thought 12-027 would apply but the online pdf from Infiniti claims it for the '09-'11 model years. So what I did was checked my build date which was in September of 2011. Since the update came out in 2012, I thought for sure that I had to have the old software. This led me to the dealership again where they told me everything was up to date.

With that late of a build date, it will a early 12 model. Hopefully they tried to do the update using CONSULT-III plus. I would be willing to bet they will release another TSB as this was the 2nd one and my car did not fall under the 1st one because it was based on VIN# only.

You were right Infiniti did release a revised version of the update! (ITB12-027d) Word is that its intended to cover all 2012 models! Whats confusing though is that I downloaded the pdf online and it shows the same applied vehicle years as 027c.

2009 – 2011 G37 Sedan and Coupe (V36/CV36)
2009 – 2012 Convertible (HV36)

The only difference is the box at the top reads: "This bulletin has been amended to change the first sentence of the IF YOU CONFIRM statement. Discard and previous versions"
