Ok guys, I found a killer price on some 16x7.5 wheels that are +30 offset, I noticed Chet uses 17x7.5 with a +30 offset so the offset shouldnt stick out too much. The main question is, do you think with an LSD and only 7.5 wide wheels, I would have enough contact patch for 300hp? This is of course assuming I had good sticky tires. Thanks for the input!

Edit: does anyone have an opinion on Avon tires? I've never heard of them on anything other than motorcycles before...are they any good?

@ Nathan: The rims should fit!I run a set of 7.5x16 with 35mm offset and there's still some space left (225/45/16), a friend of mine is using the same size and he also put some 20mm spacers in the back and it still fits(his car is lowered about 1.5 inch).

Allright, thanks for the advice...but what do you think about the width? I was originally looking for 8.5 wides in the back at least considering the power level I'll have. I kinda figured the Avons sucked but I hadnt heard much about them at all :) thanks!

considering a 225-50-16 came on 400hp V-12 ferraris, if you get a good enough tire, you should have no problem. if you want, you might be able to put 225-50-16 front and 245-45-16 rear, like the Z32 twin turbos(300hp)...and although you wont "hook" if you dump the clutch, you'll have plenty of contact patch and selection of stick tires to use.-chet

Awesome, that was the kind of answer I was looking for, thanks a lot! I was trying to find high horsepower cars that used similarly sized tires but the closest I found was 275's on Camaro SS...which was close enough for me. One more question though, why would I want to stagger my tire size like the z32 tt's? If I put 245 all the way around I could at least rotate my tires. thanks again!

Ahhh, I think I get it now...because the actual tire will be wider than the rim which throws off the clearance to the strut, thanks again!

I'm running 16x8 wheels with 25 offset and a245x45x16 tire front and rear for a race setup. I have no clearance problems with ground control coilovers. The best way to be certain is to put your car up on jackstands, then put a jack under one suspension arm and jack it up to the normal position as it would be on the ground. Then get under the car and measure your clearances.

Thanks for the suggestion...I lost the damn auction anyway so I'll have to keep looking. I was CERTAIN I would win :( but I couldnt be online when it ended so I got my friend to do it for me...and of course he was too slow, oh well.
