Yes it is possible to install 6x9s in the front doors of a Q, I just did it today. However it is not something you want to do if you don't have lots of patience.
It is a somewhat difficult process, and it's even harder to explain. If you'd like me to explain it though I'd be more than happy to

Peace,
Damon

Cool and CONGRATULATIONS!

How about producing a kit to replace the current enclosure that works behind the stock door panel for us mere mortals to purchase? :-)

Well essentially all i really did is mount the speaker into the back half of the stock bose enclosure, removed the amp, and ran wires straight to the speakers. I honestly only used parts that i found laying around my garage
I'm sure if you put your mind to it, you could do this yourself too.

Welcome to Nico! Other than the 6x9 speakers, what else is aftermarket in your setup? Got some pics for us...

I also have a JVC head unit and i replaced the stock rears with some stockers from a 2000 Monte Carlo. In my opinion this setup sounds much better than the stock system
Unfortunately i don't have any pics at the moment, but i may be able to get some by Monday

I am sure that some good 6 1/2" speakers will fit. I have had several very experienced car stereo people tell me that these are much better then 6x9.

Honestly if a 6x9 fits, just about any size speaker should fit. The only reason i went with 6x9s is because that's what i had laying around

Sure enough, your right. I was thinking 6x9 was the way to go on my 05' XTerra which I replaced the speakers and I had 3 shops all push me to 6 1/2" speakers with separate tweeters. They all said that 6x9 was old school, but posession is 9/10ths of the law :) afterall.

I can totally see where those shops are coming from but i think as long as your speakers pick up highs really well and you aren't trying to blow money, there is really no point in having tweeters :)
