6x9's vs. 6 3/4?

Ok here is the situation...I have a '93 Coupe and I want to replace the back deck speaks. They are specified as 6 1/2S or 6 3/4. How do 6 3/4 sound compared to 6x9's? Do the 3/4ths have adeqate bass?? It would be a lot easier to get them since they will screw right in. But if the 6x9's are a big step up, I might consider them. How much trouble is it to fit those in? Is it just a matter of making new screw holes, or do you have to actually widen the speaker hole itself?

i personally think round speakers always sound better. If you want straight up bass go w/ the 6x9's.
