Is there any possible way to fit 6x9's in the rear deck of my 95 240SX. I don't think 6 1/2's are loud enough. ThanksJosh

It can be done.. . . . got tin snips??? lol

I have a s14 also, and I installed alpine 3 ways "6x9's" in my rear deck. I had to take off the carpet piece on the rear deck first. Next I grabbed a pair of tin snips and cut two straight lines out from the previous hole "two cuts on oppisite sides on each speaker hole". Then grabbed a pair of vice grips and pulled apart the cuts I made. Then layed down dynamx accros my rear deck and installed speakers. The 6x9's make a big differene, but only if you are using quality speakers. Hope that helps

p.s. if you have anymore problems just post a them.

i did the same thing w/ my 96 except i used a swizall power saw ...tin snips probably works better though ...big improvement ...but i agree if you don't have quality 6x9's your wasting your time

How much better would it be than 6.5 sony XS speakers? A huge difference?

Sony makes great home entertainment systems but when it comes to mobile electronics you have to turn to alpine or JL for quality and if you really have the money a set of focals will set u back about $1400. Want quality? thats the best set of speakers I ever heard in my life, it's worth the price if you got the money, but I don't think any of us are THAT much of a audio fan. I recommend JL's 6 1/2 components. The reason your old 6 1/2 wasn't giving you what you wanted is because it might be the speakers or it might be you have nothing powering it up except only your headunit. From my experience 6 1/2 ALWAYS sounds better than 6x9 because of the round shape, less effort to achieve excursion than 6x9's, try running a 4 channel for your cabin speakers, and get a 1000/1 amp for your subs (if equipped) it's not the size of the speakers it's whatever your feeding it, speakers wanna pump harder and harder if it can. Also alot of people have this misunderstood:

My speakers not loud enough, I must change new speakers, even though you have the stock headunit. And I quote "if you have **** runnin through about thousand dollas worth of aftermarket speakers, you will still hear ****"

So if you have stock speakers and change ur headunit you'd be surprised of the difference a new headunit say around 45-65wx4 you'll be amazed.

So bring me to this question, why go through all that trouble to have 6x9 when you're 6 1/2 are MORE than good enough, just give it more power.

My issue is more about if the stock amp on my S14 is better than the amp in my Kenwood Deck, which is a 50x4. And how do I hook up 6 speakers to something with 4 channels.

when u put ur kenwood head in, did you make use of ur stock amp? did you buy a bypass adapter so you can use your stock amp? if not then your stock amp is not even being used, only ur head is powering the cabin speakers. To check which is better take a look at what has more watts.

About the 6 speakers are they for the rear or the front, just put them in paralell as oppose to the front or rear speakers that you want. Just a warning I hope you're not referring to ur subs as the other 2 speakers, your headunit is not strong enough to power the subs and might short out or maybe even fry.
