this is how i did it...

that along with my subwoofer setup but you could easlily build a template so that your 6x9's can rest back there.

Yeah, i saw that, and like everyone else said, that would look sooooo much tighter if you get that center part covered with something, it still looks real good though. I was more wondering if there was a way to get the 6x9's in the stock speaker places, if u have to take out the plates or something

I wouldn't know about a coupe, but a dremel to remove some metal will get them in a hatch. If you do it just right you can even still get the plastic covers back on and have it look stock. Sorry no pics.

You basically put a spacer between the original mounting hole and the speaker mounting plate. It needs to be thick enough to allow you to fit the speaker flush with the spacer.

NO.

This will push th eactual speaker over an inch outward.

If you want to fit the stock cover you'r going to have to cut metal

This is my setup.

I plan on covering the board in black cloth so that the woodgrain is no longer visible.

Call me crazy, but I like the wood grain visible. Carry it through the rest of cabin and you'd have an awesome look

Probably does sound like ****.

You can get away with doing that if y ou don't have very good speakers though. Personally, my infinities would break that board within like 2 hours.

I'm not into the whole sound system stuff, just wanted something better than stock. My brother works at Best Buy so I just got the 2nd Most expensive one they had their "Alpine Type R" the most expensive was the "Alpine Type R Composite". I have the 6.5" Type R's in the Front and the Type R 6x9 in the rear as you can see. I got the fronts for $77 and rears for $ 84 thats employee discount they are normally $160+ each set.

My head unit was a Pioneer 4700 before it got stolen. Soon I will replace it with a Pioneer 6800.
