Is it the same for the 4spd Auto and CVT?rdsworks wrote:3200rpm is around what i get. versa's mpg starts to fall at that speed.

CVT: 120 kph [70 mph] = ~2500 rpm for me iirc (may have to go out for a bit of a drive this afternoon )matgaz wrote:

Didn't we determine at some point that premature shifting of the 6-speed worsens fuel economy instead of improving it?frankohabs wrote:6th at 60Kph???
I goto 6th at 60km/h only if i know I won't have to slow down soon (like at 2am when no traffic) otherwise 6th is for 70km/h+frankohabs wrote:6th at 60Kph???
yes, because you are bogging the engine, causing it to work harder to accelerate the car.Ever Victorious wrote:

absolute bullsh*t!rdsworks wrote:6th is short because if it was any longer you wouldn't be able to accelerate while going 75mph/120km/h+. The engine doesn't have enough power at those speeds.
You go into 6th gear on flat ground at 45 mph and you're good to 60 tops where you need to shift again to a higher gear. You should be in a higher gear at 110km/h than you have.Xtrykr wrote:well, i dont mind it being the way it is since i dont drive over 110km/h anyways. lol.
The whole idea of a 6spd with 2 overdrive gears is that 6th is for cruising. It would have plenty of power to maintain 70 mph @ 2500 rpm. If you need more power for faster acceleration, just downshift.rdsworks wrote:6th is short because if it was any longer you wouldn't be able to accelerate while going 75mph/120km/h+. The only issue with shifting @ lower rpm hurting fuel economy is when it causes you to use more throttle to achieve a desired acceleration rate. Generally if I'm in traffic where acceleration is slow to moderate I shift @ 2000. If the road is open I shift @ 3000.Ever Victorious wrote:

I shift at those rpms for 1st and 4th gears, but 5th and 6th, i feel, are almost identical gears :Smy_new_v wrote:Its just me but I always shift from 2800-3200 no matter where im at.
There is a definate difference in 5/6 but just not as much as there should be. At 65mph 5th is around 3700 rpms or so where 6th is closer to 3100 rpms.Xtrykr wrote:I shift at those rpms for 1st and 4th gears, but 5th and 6th, i feel, are almost identical gears :S
If in a hurry at about 15mph, if driving slow anywhere from 7-10mph. The 1st gear is really short. Some I have heard will take it to 20+mph, but that's way up in the RPM range. I rarely go over 4500 rpms.Xtrykr wrote:Ah, okie, i haven't driven this thing hard at all as its still new. Question, when do u shift from 1->2?
Same here lolbiggie wrote:If in a hurry at about 15mph, if driving slow anywhere from 7-10mph. The 1st gear is really short. Some I have heard will take it to 20+mph, but that's way up in the RPM range. I rarely go over 4500 rpms.
