This is the setup for a 2004 Porsche 911 GT2 with lightweight 18-inch Turbo Look II monobloc alloys. The front wheels (8.5J x 18) run on 235/40ZR 18 tyres, while the rears (12J x 18) come with 315/30ZR 18s. This configuration ensures optimum road handling in even the longest of high-speed bends.

Now is it possible to put this setup on the coupe 6MT?

And if not what is the widest setup without compromising the handling?

Your trying to compare an AWD rear engined car to a G35 which has a front engine RWD layout, which is a very bad idea due to the very different dynamics of each layout.

For your coupe I would suggest a square tire size all around if your looking for a setup that won't hit the pocket book as hard. I'd run something like a 245/40/18 all around. While this is the same width as your rear tires (if you have the 18" optional wheels) it has a shorter sidewall for increased response, which will adversly effect your speedo by a mph or two. However with the factory wheels you don't have much of an option given the 8" width of the wheels.

If you move to another set of wheels I would suggest the following:

You choose the diameter, I think 17s are a good medium between looks and weight.

Front: 17x8.5 - 245/40/17 - Potenza S03's or comparible Rear: 17x9.5 - 265/40/17 - Potenza S03's or comparible

275-40 or 285-35-18's work really well for the new Z chassis(G35C and 350Z)

i9t really depends on the suspension setup, stock, mild, adjsutable, power, etc as to what you want to run, what uses are you going to do with the car, and aslo dont compare a rear-engine AWD car to a FR car...the balance is completely different, the porshe needs that huge width differnet to stabilize its fat-*** thorugh a corner because of the weight in the *** end.(porshes have ghetto booties)-chet

I just saw 911 and a few tidbits here and there... so I assumed a 996 Turbo lol.

Rear engine owns for drifting/handling if you know what you're doing.

substitute "rear" with "mid" and you're absolutely right.

Sorry man, my preference is for balanced cars, not ***-or-front heavy cars....

give me a mid-engine RWD any day of the week....that sjut my opinion though, im sure the're RR supporters too..-chetDONE GOT ER DID!(hhehe, glad you got the joke rex)

Mid engine does rule. Though, I always hear everyone say about the RR layout that the engine is at the "wrong" end of the car. There is no wrong or right end of the car.

If you know how to steer with the throttle like 911's prefer, they can handle better, have more turn in, etc than most cars (I don't mean handle better than everything). Watch the "Ruf Faszination" vid of that crazy guy driving a 80's Ruf CTR on the Nurburgring and you will see what I mean. That fool is drifting at speeds up to 200mph!
