Hey all, I just picked up a 69 roller and was thinking about dropping in an L24 into it. Does that sound doable without too much fab work? I was also thinking about an sr20de with itb but there's just something about carburetors that gets me going. This is my first car so I might be chewing off more than I can swallow with a swap like this but I want to build this thing into one bitchin' driver. Thanks for any feedback as it's always appreciated!

Welcome aboard!

The L24 is a BIG job. Having wrenched on several Roadsters, there are a few great options for powerplants that won't break the bank.

Personally, I like a stroked R16 (original engine). This gives you 2-liter power (screamer!) with a minimum of effort.

SR swaps are popular, as is a KA swap, but that moves you into FI vs carbs. I've always wanted to do a CA18DET swap in one - great motor and cheap to find!

What's the status of the car right now? Is it a shell? How far is it from running? Pics?

Well, its the start of a project, haha. The interior is shot to s*** and it has an amatuer paintjob. It runs now but is going under the knife soon enough. I looked at my options and for what i am looking for I think the sr20de is the way to go. I have some big plans for this car, as I am using it as a project for my engineering degree. I am planning an IRS conversion, people look at me funny when I tell them my plans for this particular car but it's what I want to do and it will help me with schooling (if you can believe that!) so it will work out well for me in the end. I am also enrolled in an automotive program and a welding/metal fabrication program at my current city's junior college. I have all the resources needed to do this and the drive to get it done (higher quality work will yield me a better grade) plus I think these are fantastic little cars, with a passionate following from their respective enthusiasts, great history, and beautiful styling. I'll post pics when I figure out how!

I can hook you up with a buddy of mine who does a TON of SR Roadster conversions.
