Hey guys,
Just wanted to say hello and introduce my new (to me) 1968 510 Wagon. I hope to be a lot more active here too.

Just got Wilma back on the road. Front suspension and steering is just this side of frightening above 50mph. I WILL address that asap. Had to rebuild the front brake calipers and with the help of my good bud, Kevin Hawley from Datsun Southwest, it was done pretty quickly. Would have been really quickly but we reinstalled the piston housings upside down when we put the calipers back together...Doh!!

Been driving her back and forth work for a week. I love it. The L16 is VERY tired so after the front end situation is addressed, I will be looking for a new power plant. If I can get a decent L20b, I'll go that route. I have a set of S.U.'s installed already. However, I am kicking around doing a KA24e, single cam swap too. The L20b would be simpler and I do have a KA 5 speed that I had modified for my Z that I can install. ( The Z is going LS, by the way). I guess I'll just see what comes available first.

Awesome wagon! I love the look of white Datsuns with gold wheels! Wonderful car and keep us updated on the progress! Even if this section (seems to be) a little slow to reply, we're still here watching!
ps - sneak in a pic of your Z, too?

Well, continued brake issues. It seems that there is an issue at the Master Cylinder. The front brakes would not release pressure. We removed the calipers and the pistons depressed smoothly. Reinstalling the calipers, the brake system locked back up again. We released pressure at the caliper bleeder but that didn't release the pressure. Brake lines aren't twisted. It seems it's either the proportioning valve or the master.

I just acquired 280zx front strut assemblies with brake calipers, I'm going to install those and see what affect it has on the brake hydraulics.

Any hints out there?

Acquired 280zx front strut assemblies. Removed strut perches from 510 strut assemblies, removed strut perches from zx strut assemblies. Welded the 510 perches on the zx struts, 1 inch lower, used the 510 strut insulators, swapped the right for the left when I installed the assemblies for better caliper clearance. Freakin' love it!! Brake issues gone. Front end 2" lower. All around a great experience. Daily driving the 'Goon from now on.

Sorry, didn't remember to take pictures as I worked.

Wilma is mine now, the scary front end is fixed. As Speedgato mentioned, drives well but is tired.
