That was my original reasoning to the wife as why I needed a sportbike. Then I HAD to have the new one, which only gets about 38mpg. Still better than the gas hog in the driveway that gets 14mpg...can't wait to ship all my kids off to school, and send the guzzler to autotrader!

The G has been averaging 20-21.4 per tank lately, not too shabby. But I know I haven't been my usual self when I am behind the wheel. Starting off from lights all "normal person" like and slow....boo!!! :frown: I wanna go fast!!

I look forward to those falling prices. Funny how the price changes immediately when it's going up, but takes a while when it's going down. (well, not funny ha ha, like a clown or something)

The higher the price the less people I have to deal with on the road :)

83 octane?

How has gas on the market in the last few days went from $114/barrel to $101, yet price at pumps continue to climb?

You know how long them pipelines are? Takes a while for the cheaper stuff to get to where it comes out....

They can't make that excuse, cause it doesn't work that way when the market price is going up.

I've read some tips before about buying gas.

1. Fill up in the morning after the fuel at the station has had time to cool overnight. (this way the fuel chemicals have not begun to separate from heat which in theory means you will get more for your buck!)

2. Do not fuel-up if you see that the station is being refueled by the tanker. The new fuel being added to the station will swirl up all of the dirt and whatever else has been deposited into the bottom of the stations tanks.

3. If you have an auto, let the car shift gears for you. I like to use the manual mode because it's fun and I have a lot of mods but I know I'm eating up gas.

If anyone else has some tips please add.

Oh, That's with the decrease in gas prices.
it was $6. something a few weeks ago. I'm not exactly sure on the cents but if you're lucky PantherRacer might chime in.

But getting fuel to an island is going to be more expensive in any case. Fuel over there is generally cheaper simply because you are land locked.
For us any how, our fuel is ( usually more often then not a dollar more then where ever it is most expensive, for the cheapest gas.
Oh and we don't get to choose between 83, 87 , 91,93 etc. we have one gas muzzle, so it's cheap gas all around. from either shell or esso.

i dont know if every market has experienced it yet, but, i told you so.... it will go down a little bit more still. the expected decrease was in the neighborhood of about .40 which is pretty significant.

the reason why fuel prices go up so fast and down so slow is just a matter of gas stations owners flexing their muscles. they only lower it to remain competitive...it is more related to RBOB and futures than it is crude oil prices
