Hi guys I just bought an 04 G35 Coupe with 64,000miles...being a first time owner is there anything I should be looking at as for mechanicaly I should get done??

The previous owner had all the brakes done and the engine and transmission oil?

He also mentioned that he used synthetic oil? Do i HAVE to keep using synthetic now?

I would take it to a Infiniti dealer and pay for a bumper to bumper inspection to look for anything that could be possibly replaced/repaired before powertrain warranty expires{at 70,000 miles}

You could go back to regular oil,but why? Consider yourself lucky if previous owner used synthetic,and continue to do so yourself if you plan on keeping car for a long time.

If it is automatic transmission,find out how long ago he changed fluid...do it every 30K miles

Also change rear differential fluid ,use synthetic gear oil

I would love to get my car done under warranty work...however It is a US car but Its been imported to Canada.

I live in BC if i was to drive across the line into Washington would I still be able to get warranty work done...the cars still in miles etc...?

The reason I ask is I know you can for Kiai's.

Consumer Reports had an article about keeping cars forever. The Excellant Honda Civic averaged $1200 per year over 15 years for mainteance and repairs. We know an equivalent aged Q costs a little less than $3,000 per year................so your 6 cylinder might be in the middle [?] at $2100 per year. Be sure to spend early and frequently to avoid a sudden pile up in expenses..............was the main point in the story.

If the Civic guys save $20k over 15 years vs buying a new one every 5 years, you should be able to do the same due to higher average purchase cost insurance, etc.

Buyers never seem to BUDGET M&R expenses correctly so they always complain about sudden bills.

I always recommend having an extra $3,000 in ready cash whenever buying a USED car to cover the things the previous owner skipped!
