Anyone know off hand what other model oil caps fit the valve cover of the 64 L320 1200? Do the 521's have the same cap? Does anyone have one if not easily avialable out there? Any input is greatly appreciated, hopefully all will get put back together this weekend and we will fire her up!!!

I have a complete J13 out in the garage on a dolly, so let me check.

I think Conner mentioned in a previous post that a cap from a Fairlady roadster works, so let's see if he chimes in.

Okay the answer to your "loaded question" is not exactly . That is, do you have a two bolt valve cover or a 6 x screw valve cover? If a 2 x bolt - NO a cap from a J13/520 or one from a Fairlady Roadster will not work. If you have a 6 x screw valve cover then YES, your are in luck. A J13/520 or Fairlady roadster will work. If you have the 2 x bolt, I'm stopping by Victoria British this Friday and can size up a cap from a Sprite/Midget or MGA/B and confirm fitment for you. I'm stopping by for some interior door panel parts - so no issues. Give me a few and I'll upload some pics....

Like Truckie says, if you have a true 64 your valve cover will have six screws that attach it to the head. If that's the case, this cap will fit and has cool Japanese characters on it:



Part number is 15255-B3430, $10 from Nissan and still available last time I checked.

And if you're interested in a sweet reproduction Datsun 1200 valve cover badge to go with it, let me know!

I have the two screw type and not the 6 screw, I do have the badge already on motor as well.

Any luck on that oil cap and just for my own personal knowledge the two bolt valve cover is not the original for this year but the six bolt.
