Is this a reasonable goal with a well built KA-T with a GT35R setup? I can take care of everything but the tune. My JWT SR tune with 72lbs. injectors and a cobra MAF maxes out around 450-500whp. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm considering going KA-t for the drag track.

GT40, 110lb injectors, standalone, msd ignition...or...

GT35, 72lb injectors, rom tune, nitrous, NX Maximizer 2. That way you get a daily driver that is also a wicked SOB at the track.

I wish nitrous wasn't so dangerous to have around here...I'd throw it in for street/quarter runs.

GT35 can put out very close to if not 600 hp, its been done. Your reaching the turbochargers limits at that hp, but it can be done.

What are your goals for the car?

I am getting close to 400whp in my SR powered car with a gt2871. I haven't ran it in the 1/4 yet but it should be in the low 11's with my new setup. It just isn't enough. I have seen a couple of KA-T's with 35R's making north of 600whp in the mid 10's. I love my SR but if you put a 35R on a SR you won't hit full boost till 5000 rpm. The KA should hit it 1500 rpm sooner.

Where will the KA hit ful boost with a GT4088? And how tight can you wind them.

Nitrous isn't dangerous at all. No more so then boost is. In fact nitrous is just boost in a bottle. You're just adding enough air and fuel to generate more power. Same concept as adding a turbo.

Lets take the 50hp wet kit. It adds fuel and nitrous, enough to yield 50hp. Which is no different then adding 5psi from a turbo, except you have to add fuel via injector.

The tuning is the same as well. Same AFR's, same timing retard...etc.

With the new nitrous controllers available you can cut off the nitrous flow at a chosen AFR for safety, it retards timing for you, it ramps up nitrous flow, it counts gears to add or subtract nitrous depending on traction.

In fact nitrous has never been easier or safer to use.

The reason I've always been a fan of nitrous is because you can get instant gains, and you can retain a turbo small enough to keep your 240 really fun to drive on the street.

WD...I believe I have confused you. I'd LOVE to be able to run nitrous. However, trying to road race with a bottle is a big no-no.

And also if you're caught on the street in NJ with a bottle, they can impound your car on the spot, no questions. It's too dangerous - not for my motor/car, but for having my car taken away from me.

FP's HTA 35r has hit 700whp dynojet on a 4g63

I know a bunch of guys that run nitrous without any problems. I can name 3-5 off the top of my head. Those are the guys that are open about it. Plenty more I'm sure run 'sneaky pete' style systems. If cops can't see it, they can't say anything. Personally, I don't do any emissions testing (easily obtained in NJ, i'm just lazy) so I like to keep everything else at a minimum. I'm doubtful people really get caught...

But if you ever come through Jersey, I'm buying you a beer. Or six. Since I'm threadjacking so much anyways, I'm going to be going to NicoFEST VIR - so if you want to say anything to any members or mods there on your behalf, I can. I.e., slap people/buy them a beer lol

AMS has a GT35R KA-T putting down 630+ whp. http://www.amsperformance.com/...=1205That's with the strait GT35 not the dualBB GT35R. I would like to think the BB turbo will spool up around 3800-4000 RPM on a KA?

AMS is a bad word around here these days...

But I believe Ivan@AMS ended up cracking/spilting a block up around the 700rwhp range. Just something to think about with building an ultra high performance KA-T.

IIRC, Brian Crower will make one off crankshafts, but they're not what I'd call cheap. He also has a full stroker kit that includes the full counter weighted cranks. We had a nice little chat about them at Formula D in Englishtown NJ. If your serious about putting money into a drag KA-T it's something worth looking into.
