Why don't we have something like this in North America?

I mean it works perfect everywhere else.

That's because we have idiots manning the trains here in California. In the past 3 months there have been two metrolink and freight train collisions.

In the US, we're working on developing and improving an electromagnetic system. The only problem with the US is that its a very expansive country and it would take a lot of money to install such a system unlike the small countries.

I thought about it too but there is Russia. It works there. If you think US is big well Russia before the 1990 cut had 11 hours timezone. So between East and West was 11 hours. Here in Canada the train is expensive and slow. But you can go to the west side of the country just too expensive. Not sure how expensive and slow in the States but most likely similar. I think if it was comfy and faster cheaper would more attractive to the younger generation. Especially how the flight are going lately. They getting worst day by day.

Yeah, but in Russia, does the train go from east to west? Or does it just stay in the west? Just looked at a map...most of the trains are strictly in the western quarter of the country. There are two lines that go east-west along the southern border. Pretty much what I expected.

Yes they do. Well not just East to West tho. LOL. Anyways. I've been in Russia when I was young with my Family couple of times. I actually was on the train on the second longest section of rails. Moscow - Pyongyang ( I probably misspelled it). I was only on it for like 2k miles but the whole thing is over 10k miles. 7 or 8 time zones. It is crazy. Also most conected. I can't remeber exact #'s. It was long time ago.

If I remeber right it was over 10 days on the train but we only took the part of it. 2 + days.

it would take a large amout of money to get to the point that we have trains at the speed. the whole track system in NA would have to be replaced. in most places we are still running on tracks that were laid in the late 1800's early 1900's. second if you look at alot of the places around the world that are building this super trains, their built away from other roads. when they are met by a road, the road has a over pass but in the us most places just throw up a light , or stop arm, or even just a sign telling ppl to stop. and weve seen how well thats worked out in the states over the year. so then you would also have to rework the roads were ever this would conflict eachother. and most of the companies that run the train system dont want to spent the money for something new when the old way is working fine in their minds. "profit margens"... not that i dont want to see it in the US, i just dont think it will be in my life time.
