What is your setup for the launch (Tires, and suspension) and what kind of 60' times are you getting from it?

all stock set up.

My best 60 foot time is a 1.8.

I tried launching in 2nd gear the last time I was at the track and that didn't work at all.

Best ever is a 1.54. This was on BFG Drag Radials at 20 psi with the front sway bar removed for better torque distribution.

Clutch was slipped a small bit from 5000.

I wish I could have timed my 60' in my buddy's GTR when I was still over in Japan. It was only 634whp, but a rev limit launch was simply aww inspiring compared to my GTS-t.

I'd like to do a comparison with the 240, with and without the front sway bar hooked up.

My best ever was a 1.9, but considering that was street tires in a FWD stock sentra, it's not too shabby.

At the time, the stock Continental Contisports that came on the car. Right now however, I have some BFG KDW2's on there.

Do tires really make the difference? I know I have crap tires on mine, and my best 60' was a 2.4sec. How can I make this better, and what is the best way to launch a slightly modded 91 240sx? Thanks

Also, with traction, the optimal performance if to have roughly 11 or 12% tire slippage, believe it or not.

So in other words, when launching, if having NO traction is 100%, and not even chirping the tires is 0%, you want about 12%. Which basically is no squeeling, or a very minimal amount. This is basically when your maximum acceleration is. If you don't let the tires slip at all (soft launch), you aren't getting enough power to the ground. On the other hand, if you light up your street tires like they are in some top fuel dragster, your launch will be by far worse.

Most people I see launch their cars WAY to high of RPM and make the tires slip WAY too much. On the other hand there is bogging the car. But try to find that nice point inbetween where u get the perfect launch, and then try to be consistant with each additonal launch.

any advantage/ solid reason why you launch in second gear? I know first gear is short but I'd like to know.

does it help to not miss second gear? lol (I've seen it happen....dude missed second gear... I'll get my 60' times in as soon as I can get to the drag strip in a worthy car

WELL...

I'll chime in Drag Radials on my car yeild a spinning 1.64 while Mickey Thompson ET Drags yeild an impressive 1.40.

And Torry is right, on any form of radial tire you want 9-12% slip for an optimal launch. While on slicks it is all about launching as high, and as hard as you can with no more than 2% slip.
