Ok here is the thing. I know how some people want to have a 6 speed transmission for there KA motor, and i know i can get a custom bellhouseing for a 6 speed transmission. So the question im trying to get to is who would like to get a custom bellhouseing for the ka motor. I can get the work done on a CNC meachine for free. So if i where to come up with a design for a 6 speed transmission, i not sure what transmission i will be going with. How many people would want to buy a the bellhouseing?

youre gonna need more than a custom bellhousing to make the 6spd work on the KA (speed sensor in rear diff, s15 HLSD, driveshaft...)

The transmission you'll most likely be using is an S15 transmission which is pretty weak compared to the KA 5 spd.

Everytime the s15 6pd transmission is mentioned, people say this. I am wondering if this is just regurgitated hearsay, or does anybody actually have proof of this?

The proof is...same sized case, but 1 more gear...only way to do that is to make each gaer thinner.

Thinner gears = easier to shred the teeth off of with decent power.

Form what I've read, guys routinely switch to 5-speeds for their S15 SRs due to this.

Well, think about it. Its approximately the same size physically but it carries more gears. That means making the gears themselves thinner. Nissan front drive trannies are also known for being weak because of physically smaller gears. Honda gears are about twice the size of a B13 gear.

Edit: Brian, you beat me to defend my statement...thanks.

Thanks. That makes perfect sense. I had never heard any justification and was very curious as to why people say that.
