Does anyone with the 6 speed manual experience what I'd best describe as a 'thunking' sound when moving the shifter from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to 1st with the clutch fully depressed while the car is stopped? I've noticed this quite a bit lately while stopped at traffic signals.

It never occurs in motion but at rest, it sounds as if the clutch isn't fully depressed, which of course it is.

Any comments, thoughts or suggestions?

Mine will do that too, but not if i shift slowly.
I suspect motor mounts clunk a wee bit as synchros do their job.
Just a theory though!
And yes only at stop, and NOT if i shift 1-2-1-2-1-2 etc, just into 1st only.

happens rarely if I shift a little quick. Be patient... it's an economy car. lol

Just a reminder, I said 'only at rest. never in motion'.

In any event the good news is, at least for now, the clunking or thunking seems to have disappeared. Stay tuned!

Ive had about a dozen cars now, all with manual transmissions. The V by far has the worst shifter of anything I've had... it took me a LONG time to get used to it, and it still makes noises when I shift. Like the other posters said, shift slow and easy and it will be quieter. Using Redline synthetic fluid seemed to help a little to quiet and smooth the shifting, especially when it's cold outside.
