This has probably come up before, but my searchers on this topic came up empty.

Does anyone know if there is a 6 speed borg warner transmission that will bolt up to a z31 engine. I've put a 5 speed borg warner transmission on stroked 3.2 liter L28 in a 240z, had to shorten the drive shaft through. I know from personal experence that the BWM M50 V8 540 came with a smooth shifting 6 speed borg warner and have hear of them used in other vehicles. Anyway, if you've had experience fitting a 6 speed BW transmission onto a Z31, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

The Tremec T56 from a ford shouldn't be the easiest to adapt. Of course you'll want an 84-85 Z31 T5 bellhousing, the clutch disk would need to be a custom piece and the length of the input shaft might be an issue, I cant imagine the pilot bearing being much of an issue.

The S130 T5 uses a shorter stronger input shaft than the Z31 T5. The Z31 T5 Input shaft is longer and has a neckdown making it much more frail and susceptible to breaking than the S130 box. I have also seen people modify the Nissan case to accept the larger Ford WC output of course the T56 is a much larger box and modifying the nissan case is likely not option. I'd get the ford trans and start adapting it to the nissan bellhousing, making sure it's centers and working out the depth being the trickiest parts of the swap.
