One of the Mitsubishi (Metro Mitsubishi) dealerships already has the Evo VIII's for sale. Check out the pics @

Sorry about the quality but this was in the middle of the night. I love the big *** Brembo's they come with but hate the altezza's. If I were to get one the JDM lights would be ordered before I sign my life away. I didn't know the wing was carbon fiber though. All in all it was a good thing to see. Not that I'm compaining about having the Evo VIII in the U.S. but does anyone know why did Mitsubishi go with Enkei instead of O.Z.? How about Ralliart rims instead? I also didn't like the Enkei rims.

I met someone here that has been stockpiling parts for the one he ordered last year, I bet you he is exited that they are finally here. He will be racing it this summer I am sure.

Those cars are so sweet!Stock Brembo's are wicked, and a Ralliart edition would be unbeatable!!!

STi will own until Ralliart comes over. I thought Mitsu wasn't supposed to bring Ralliart until they see how good the Evo VIII's sale... still cool considering that unlike Evo VIII, the STi sacrifices none of its high-spec mechanicals. It still has the variable split ratio center differential, through which the driver can alter torque split between front and rear axles. It still has the 6-speed manual gearbox and the Brembo brakes. The STi it generates 300 hp and 300 lbft, compare with the Japanese version's 280hp and 275lbft.

While the Evo VIII has (US version) 5-speed only. My biggest disappointment is the discard of ACD (active center differential) and AYC (active yaw control), which make the Evo VII so sharp in cornering. In place of them are an ordinary viscous-coupling center LSD and a mechanical rear LSD. Luckily, the Brembo brakes were retained.

Hey I guess we're just lucky enough to get an Evo although I would have liked to see it with everything it should have come with in the first place.

the US version is more like a detuned EVO 6 with a slightly modified EVO7 body.

the US STI has a different engine than the JDM version. its a 2.5L with a different turbo.

of course the STI has no release date yet either. the local subaru dealer didn't even know what a WRX STI is.

ill have to check out the nearest mitsu dealer and try to cop em out of a test drive on an EVO (nearest mitsu dealer is 40 miles away)

the dealers in cheyenne treat anything sporty like its made of gold and wont allow test drives until you've already signed for the car

Cost would be enormous if the same electrics came on the U.S. spec Evo. Plus, the rest of the world doesn't take the U.S. seriously when it comes to automobiles. The broad view is that the U.S. is a bare bones pickup truck nation, who can thrive on detuned, useless throwaway transportation (see also: fiesta, festiva, metro, and civic). Bone up on some knowledge about industry and you'll see why we're getting what we are. IMHO, we should be thankful we're getting an Evo at all, and it seems we have Subaru to thank. I think the plus side is that the more powerful and fun to drive the cars become, the higher the price. i.e. less ricers can afford them.

I figured they kept things off the car for price control. Mitsu should offer it as an enthusiast package though. Like the 350Z.

From what the dealership told me the STI are suppose to be in around June because there trying to get rid of the 2003 WRX models. I was trying to buy a 03 WRX but insurance skyrocketed to space so I couldn't get it.

Im probably gonna look at the 2004 WRX Sedan (non STI version) I mean there about the same price as the 2003 models but I Know with a 1 grand or 2 you can make them just as fast as the STI's ( chip, uppipe, downpipe, etc.) I just really like the Variable Valve Timing and higher rpm's on the STI but dam 32000 or more is a lot.

Yeah a friend of mine is getting an STI in october. Lucky him. I still think importing an Evo VI and doing a Bozz Speed conversion would be SICK

Oh well... Maybe when I win the lottery....

Of course I have to play to win right?

DOH
