Hello...I recently purchased an '03 with 43k miles on it, and before driving away from the dealership. I realized the CD changer wasn't ejecting or allowing me to load CD's. I notified the salesman of this and he scheduled me a time to come in this weekend to have the it fixed/replaced if need be. My question is, is this a common problem, and is there an easier fix than having the dealership repair/replace it? This is the only problem I've noticed to thus far.

I haven't heard of it happening on a newer model like yours, but it's not uncommon . Usually can be fixed by unplugging the power from the changer - a reboot, essentially.

Give it a try if you can easily find the harness plug.

One thing I've learned is that multiple disc changers that don't use the "cartridge" to hold the CD's are a real PITA. My '02 MDX has a 6 disc BOSE unit in the dash and constantly jams or gets stuck in a strange loop of the loading door opening and closing. I asked my uncle who also has an '02 MDX about it. He's never had a problem because he selected the single disc unit.

Acura wants $600 to fix it.

My Sony 10 disc changer in my Jeep uses the cartridge to hold the discs. You load the discs into each slot and then place the cartridge in the unit. A little tedious and annoying to constantly go to the trunk to swap CD's, but I haven't had any trouble out of it.

I personally don't trust cd changers in a vehicle...seems as though they still haven't perfected the technology to prevent jamming. The 5 disc non-magazine changer in my '01 Eclipse has never jammed to date! I'm going to push to have the dealership repair mine under the 90 day warranty on the car. I don't have any tapes to use the cassette player!! lol
