i have two cd's stuck in my 6-cd changer and err2 keeps coming up. i understand that err2 means that the cd has scratches and that is why it got stuck. i tried the putty knige with the double stick tape, but i can't seem to wedge the knife into the slot between the two cd's, above or below. it just won't go in. i also tried using an old cd to try to get the stuck ones out, but that didn't work either. so then i disconnected the battery to see if the cd changer wouold reset to eject, but that didn't work. so now i guess i have to go to the last resort, which is to take out the cd changer and remove the cds. but once i get out the changer how do i retrive the cd's that are stuck? if anyone has any other way to remove the cd's without taking apart the car, it would be greatly appreciated. my husband thinks that i may break something or ruin something if i take apart the dashboard.

dash is just about the easiest to remove in these vehicles, two screws in the bottom corners of the dash near your shifter, then carefully pull out from bottom first (i say bottom first because not many attachment point there). Once u have the bottom disconnected then u get more grip around the dash.. carefully pull away the faceplate working your way up.. do not use the bottom for leverage as it may break the faceplate in half, just take ur time and work ur way up slowly trying to always towards your self rather than "prying upwards". once the faceplate is out, there should be 4 screws (on the single disc bose system its 4 screws) holding the deck, remove those and disconnect all connections from the back before ripping the entire deck out. as for dismantling deck.. i have never seen the 6-cd changer so your on your own there lol. maybe some1 else can help u with that. i only know how to deal with the single cd decks and aftermarket deck installations.

just googled and on nissan forums found someone sayin err2 was a very expensive repair.. speak to dealer and see what they say first.. it may be cheaper to just buy and install an aftermarket deck.. installing those is pretty easy all wires are color coded and all connections plug into original vehicle plugs and back of aftermarket deck.

Huh? Easier way to get to the CD changer would be to take a cloth-covered flathead screwdriver and pry the clock towards you from the right side, then two screws are visible. Unscrew those and more of the trim comes off; unclip the power socket's connector and then twist that trim out of the way, and then there are four screws for the stereo cluster, then four screws for the CD changer itself once the stereo cluster is pulled out. In fact, here are some pictures I took of the dashboard disassembly to get to the stereo cluster (click to enlarge):

And yeah, I know, I should have used heatshrink for my stereo's wiring harness, but electrical tape and zipties should suffice I think.

I'm not sure about that. My father attempted to remove the CDs without destroying the player but couldn't, but I've never tried myself. I just ripped off the front faceplate with force to get to the CDs. Of course, if you plan on reusing the CD changer that's not the way to go. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm glad you found the pictures useful.

I REALLY wanted the CDs out of mine. It was six out of an eight-CD oldies set that was a party favor at my 30-year high school reunion. I remember that I had to partially disassemble the unit, and had to sorta wiggle the CDs out. I THINK the five that weren't loaded were relatively easy. The only thing I broke was one of the liquid filled dampers. That's about as much as I remember. I ended up getting an MP3 player and ripping them (and a lot of old 33s) to MP3. Still have the busted CD player sitting in a box.

Interestingly, I had a couple of Beach Boys albums on both CD and vinyl. The ones I ripped from vinyl sound better on MP3 than the ones I ripped from CD.

Many music remasters and new releases today are affected by the "loudness wars", which is why vinyls sometimes sound better. For the sake of avoiding thread jacking, I'll just stop my post here.
