I am upgrading my head unit and also all four speakers. My 91 TT has the bose system with the 4" all around. I found a place that makes 6.5 adapter plates http://www.car-speaker-adapters.com/

My question is has anybody used adapter plates and is the install stealth? I want it to look like it does now. I am planning on installing some nice Hertz Hi Energy HCX165 speakers driven by a JL Audio amp.

THANKS

I believe my 90 NA came with the Bose system (the center piece by the radio says Bose and my rear boxes have the little amps in them still). I have 6.5" all the way around. My rear speaker boxes already accepted 6.5" I believe and in the front I had to make my own covers for the stock boxes. I think I made it out of 1/4" plywood (whatever the thinest one is) and sealed it to the factory plastic box with silicone. All of my stock speaker covers are in place so it doesn't look any different.
