I am new 240 owner. I enjoy driving my 1990 240sx but the suspension is not what I want it to be. I like to get sidewayz but this stock suspension is not cutting it out. I am looking to get a new suspension for around $1000.00. I do not drift professionally and do not entend to, but I do like to get sideways whenever I can. I need something that can give me a little more control. I just need something that is good enough for entry level drifting.

What kind of suspension do you guys have in your cars?

My friends have suggested getting Megan, Tokico Blues, Godspeed, or gas shocks.

Let me know what your set up is and what you guys would suggest.

Thanks

check out the suspension forum and the drifting forum and see what other people are running. nico members are pretty much using everything, so see what everyone else has to say about their own setup and decide from there.

Powered by Max has some pretty sweet stuff, looks really beefy. I know a few members are running them with no complaints. If you have $1000 to spend then please don't get megan's. They are fine if you are on a budget but with $1000 you can get a much nicer/reputable coilover.

are you going to be tracking the car???

if your not then i see no need for you to need coilovers, unless you want to slam the car, just go with some KYB AGX's and a good drop spring and a master bushing kit and you should be ok thats probably near 800 all together

If you want a drift-purposed coilover for $1000, go for Powered By Max. IIRC, they're 12kg/10kg springs, which will give a very stiff ride, maybe not comfortable enough fr a DD but very good for drifting. If you want a good street coilover, might i recommend Endura-Tech. Good valving, nice adjustment range, fit your budget perfectly. 7kg/5kg springs for a firm yet more streetable ride.

I wouldn't recommend stiff spring rated coilovers (anything as stiff as 10/8kg or stiffer) as entry level or for beginners... I'd start out softer (~8/6kg), then work your way up if you still think the given spring rates don't do it for you. Trust me, dailying 10/8kg or 12/10kg spring rated coilovers are not fun for a daily driver, and may be unsafe on the highway or bumpy side roads

KTS, Stance, Endura Tech, and a handfull more are all great choices for entry level type coilovers that are both bearable for daily use as well as weekend slider.
