high RPM shifts to 5th arent happening anymore.. anyone know if the syncros in a Z32 trans will work? im thinking that a quick rebuild + cryo treatment would be a good way to go.

ORRR. am i left to get a new trans? im sooooo tired of dealing with stupid crap with this car. im ready to put it up for sale...

sometimes i get a grind going into 5th too. just gotta take it a bit easier. high rpm shifts into 5th you're already 120-135 mphish, no?

i'd consider a rebuild necessary if it was like 2nd,3rd gears... but 5th is hardly high rpm'ed from 4th.

what fluid are you using? maybe try something to help the syncros a bit

QFT.

Yea honestly if it is just 5th gear I wouldn't worry too much. Hardly ever shifted into at high RPM.

Also make sure your clutch is fully disengaging, and try switching out to a different fluid (I've had good luck with the GM/Pennzoil Syncoromesh, many others love the Redline stuff).

redline in the trans. its relatively fresh too. probably about 5-6 thousand miles on it.. its annoying though. i cant put it in 5th at all. i want it taken care of. it really gets me down..

for a stock rebuild, the Z32 NA transmission is the same as the RB25DET transmission on the inside. Mine just started grinding going into 4th, sucks!!!

If you arn't shifting into 5th at a high RPM, then you arn't seeing the potential of your car, I'm going from 4th to 5th @ 7500 all the time when i'm out in the car.
