The other day I cut the green/yellow wire going to the ecu and capped off both ends, now my car can go to about 140 im guessing? But I hear that its still cut off by the 5th gear sensor telling the ecu its rpm's thus administering a cut to the motor as well.

Does anyone know what wire the 5th gear sensor is going to the ecu? Or does anyone know a way around this?

Is it a rev limiter you're hitting? What RPM are you at by then? I cut my green/yellow wire and pushed it to ~140 but didn't see a limiter. I didn't push it to the limit past that though.

There is no 5th gear sensor in the SR like the KA had 4th and 5th sensors.

does your tach or speedometer not work if u cut the green/yellow wire

The speedo and tach both work when doing this on a Blacktop SR.

so there is no negative effects to cutting this wire or should i run a switch to it so whenever i feel the need to go over 118 i can.

the ecu doesn't see a speed signal, so the maps it chooses are different then if you left it hooked up. idle will suffer slightly on most cars.Shaun

Do you have any other details on how the ECU would have a different map without a speed signal? My SR runs the same as it did before and the idle sits dead on. The only thing is i can go way over 118 now.

How does the ECU react to the speed signal? (I'm not trying to hassle you, I'm just curious)

the ecu does, it reads the speed from that yellow green wire, then if you disconnect it, you kill the signal and the idle drops below normal ("dips") when you come to a stop or you are rolling and put it into neutral.

i think it runs better with it cut, or at least mine did, comes down to a perfect idle when i shift to neutral or just stop period
